Foyle Film Festival

Foyle Film Festival is Northern Ireland's only Oscar® and BAFTA-affiliated film festival.

Since 1987, the festival has been the city's biggest celebration of cinema, attracting guests like Richard E Grant, Danny Boyle, Julie Christi and Brendan Gleeson.

The festival also delivers screenings and workshops throughout the year, including the Reel Lives programme and educational and outreach screenings.

Foyle Film Festival is funded by the Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen and by Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Light in Motion Short Film Competition

Filmmakers can enter their films under three competition categories: Best Irish Short; Best International Short; and Best Animated Short.

Winners of the Light in Motion Awards qualify for consideration in the Live Action and Animated Short Film categories of the Academy Awards® without needing the standard theatrical run. Foyle Film Festival is also an IMDb Qualifying Festival, granting all eligible film submissions a fast-tracked title page on IMDb.com.
