Sign up to our creative educational programmes for young children aged 6-11 to take part in at home.
Unplugged Coding (Ages 7-11)
Participants will be guided through the fundamentals of coding, looking specifically at algorithms. You will learn how important algorithms are in coding and how important it is to get them in the right order.
For this workshop all you will need at home is the following: mobile phone/tablet or computer to view zoom workshop, Paper, Pen.
Date: Monday 22 March, 11am-12pm.
Flipbook Animation (Ages 7-11)
Within this workshop participants will create their very own flipbook animation. They will learn about the principles of animation and how the illusion of movement is created.
For this workshop all you will need at home is the following: Mobile phone/tablet or computer to view zoom workshop, Paper, Pen, Scissors, Stapler, Ruler.
Date: Tuesday 23 March, 11am-12pm
Space Exploration and Origami (Ages 7-11)
NASA engineers use origami because of the hidden geometry in the various folds. Origami is providing NASA with an answer to a very difficult question – how to pack as much as possible into the minimum amount of storage space within the spacecraft. Participants will learn to create their own origami space object.
What you will need: Mobile phone/tablet or computer to view zoom workshop, Scissors, Paper, Ruler, Pencils, Colouring pencils/markers.
Date: Wednesday 24 March, 11am-12pm
Mini Macros - Photography (Ages 8-12)
These interactive online workshops for 8-12 year olds will introduce participants to macro photography. First we will explore how to take a good macro shot using your phone, tablet or camera looking at lighting, texture, tone, shape and pattern. Participants will be challenged to think creatively and look at everyday household items from different perspectives and have time to experiment and take their own shots around the home coming back online to share their work and Guess What it is?
What you need: Mobile phone/tablet or computer to view zoom workshop, a camera or mobile device to take photos.
Date: Thursday 25 March, 11am-12pm
Chrome Music Lab (Ages 6-11)
Within this workshop participants will learn how to create their own music using Chrome Music Lab. All you need is a mobile device and internet connection to access the site: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/ We will learn about melody, rhythm, tempo and timbre in this fun and interactive workshop.
For this workshop, all you will need at home is the following: Mobile phone/tablet or computer to view the zoom. Ideally another device to use Chrome Music Lab on, however this is not necessary as they can simply use the device they are viewing the zoom link on.
Date: Friday 26 March, 11am-12pm
