PROGRAMME | Foundation Academy for Animation
Applications are open for The Foundation Academy for Animation to any young person aged 16-19 who are passionate about a career within the animation industry!
Animation is a major growth area in the creative industries in Northern Ireland and there is a high demand for skills and local talent in animation. Several of our leading animation companies, Sixteen South, Jam Media, Paper Owl and Dog Ears are partnering with Nerve Belfast and the Nerve Centre in Derry/Londonderry to establish a career pathway into the industry. All of our tutors have years of experience and have been involved designing structure of the Academy to meet the needs of the ever growing Animation industry in Northern Ireland.
The Foundation Academy is a unique training programme focussing on 2D animation, providing training and hands-on experience of key job roles within the animation industry. Participants will be introduced to the animation production process working in a small team to learn about design, storyboarding and animating to complete a finished project.
“It's great to be able to say in a session ‘I'm working on this CBBC or Nickelodeon Jr show at the moment and have found XYZ really useful to know’. The students see real-life NI people working at the highest levels internationally and it gives them an (accurate) perspective of a thriving industry based here.”
The Animation Academy will be running both online and in the Nerve Centre in Belfast and Derry/Londonderry over a 12 week period beginning mid September finishing in December.
- Nerve Centre Belfast | Saturday from 10.30am – 4.30pm
- Nerve Centre Derry/Londonderry | Thursday from 5pm – 8pm
