Little Inventors' Build a Car Challenge
Our Creative Learning Centres are proud to partner with Little Inventors again this year for a series of creative challenges for young minds aged 4-16.
Little Inventors is a creative education organisation that inspires imagination by taking children’s amazing ideas seriously. With the support of Northern Ireland Screen, Nerve Centre has brought Little Inventors to Northern Ireland to help turn the next generation into the superstar inventors of the future.
This is a fun challenge for teachers to get their class thinking outside the box, or for parents to get their little inventors tinkering away at home over the winter break.
Take a look at the videos below, where we explain everything you need to know.
Drivers, start your engines! The Build-A-Car Challenge is now open for submissions
Key Stage 1 & 2
We want you to build a self-propelled car from a margarine tub. Can you make your car glide through traffic like a knife through butter? The challenge here is to see how far you can get your car to go!
To make this slightly more difficult, in Key Stage 2, your invention must have a driver - an egg! You must keep your egg safe!
Key Stage 3 & 4
For this challenge, we want you to design your dream car of the future using 3D software.
Don’t worry - we will be running a training session in Tinkercad so you will have plenty of time to get up to speed. We will select a number of submissions to fabricate into real 3D printed model prototypes.
All submissions (video or photos) can be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 26 February 2021. Please state your name, your school and key stage in the email. We will be showcasing entries during NI Science Festival.
