EVENT | Our Krypton Son live at Nerve Centre

Saturday 10 Jul 2021 - 8:00pm

The latest in our series of online gigs, Our Krypton Son performs live at Nerve Centre.

Our Krypton Son is the moniker of Derry-born singer/songwriter Chris McConaghy.

Having cut his teeth via Derry art-rockers Red Organ Serpent Sound, Our Krypton Son has spent the last few years mining elemental human truths as sublime dream-pop gems.

His second album, Fleas & Dreams, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim, and saw Our Krypton Son nominated for the 2017 NI Music Prize.

On 10 July 2020, Our Krypton Son officially released the much-anticipated follow-up album, Modern Ruins. Underscoring his status as one of the country’s most compelling songwriting voices, Modern Ruins has already secured his second NI Music Prize ‘Album Of The Year’ nomination.

Headed with lead single ‘White Sun’, the album unfurls across nine tracks, each as exploratory and lambent as the next. But it’s the sheer scope of imagination that it traverses that sets it apart. Conjuring tales of trapped birds in arbors, amateur wrestlers down on their luck, blossoming stars on a canopy, fields in winter and far beyond, it’s a triumph that rewards an enrapt, solitary listen.

We are excited to welcome Our Krypton Son to Nerve Centre for this special online gig.
