PROGRAMME | Playback Film Festival x QFTPlayer: Monsoon
Rising star Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) plays a man on a search for belonging as he returns to the country of his birth.
About this Event
Returning to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time since he was six years old, Kit (Golding) embarks on a personal journey to find the perfect spot to disperse his recently deceased mother’s ashes. Having fled the country in the aftermath of the Vietnam-American war, Kit struggles to make sense of himself in a city he no longer recognises. Yet, while on his journey, he encounters a series of people who might open his eyes to the possibility of love and happiness.
A tender and visually stunning drama from Lilting director Hong Khaou, anchored by a typically charming and understated performance from Golding. Monsoon tackles themes such as cultural identity and the power of legacy with a delicacy that will linger long in the memory.
This event is part of Playback Film Festival: a youth-led virtual film festival hosted on #QFTPlayer from 4 - 6 June 2021, featuring films, workshops and talks programmed, produced and delivered by a group of younger cinema-goers aged 16-26. Made in collaboration with LUMI, Reimagine, Remake, Replay and Zeppo Arts.
Monsoon will be available to watch on QFT Player on Sunday 6 June. Pre-book now to watch for FREE as part of the Playback Film Festival. Available to stream in UK and Ireland only.
