Both are the culmination of a twelve-month journey which has seen Marty collaborate with over 100 local and international musicians from a diverse range of genres.
The new album entitled ‘Basork’ combines the musical influences of twelve individual musicians and showcases their collaboration as an orchestral group. The unique, original compositions, influenced by everything from gypsy and folk to Irish and jazz will be performed, in their entirety, for the first time in Nerve Centre. A limited number of the albums will be available on the night pressed on vinyl.
The evening will also feature exclusive performances from The Underscore Orkestra (Portland U.S.), John Deery, Rebecca Mulhern, Kev Quigley & Jonny Nutt, Abby Oliveira, Hannah Surman, Tom Byrne, Teknopeasant, Grim and Lucia Mc Guinness, all of who Marty has worked with during his tenure. Paul Brown from Earagail Arts Festival will perform a DJ set.
'The past twelve months have been challenging but hugely rewarding. It has pushed my boundaries in terms of new and different areas of music. Throughout my year I’ve had great support from friends and colleagues such as Rory Donaghy and Marc Forbes who were both involved in recording the ablum with the latter taking a role as co-producer with myself. It’s been fantastic getting to work with musicians of all ages, genres and styles and has been the most progressive year of my musical career to date.'

Marty follows in the footsteps of award-winning jazz pianist Neil Cowley and MOBO nominee David Lyttle, as Musician-in-Residence. Speaking about his predecessors Marty said:
'Both Neil and David have maintained strong links with Derry and the Nerve Centre, and in some way they’ve been part of my creative process. Included on the Basork album is a song that we started with Neil back when he was Musician-in-Residence in 2013 and David has actually mixed the final album, as well as offering me his advice and friendship throughout the year.'
'I was very pleased to see Marty become the new Nerve Centre Musician-in-Residence. Marty is a creative talent who is forward-thinking and original in his approach to music. I was delighted to get the opportunity to work with him as mixer on his Basork album. It is a great piece of work with very strong compositions and arrangements, and fine musicianship.'

During his residency Marty travelled to Youssoufia in Morocco for a five-day intensive music workshop with young international musicians, working with them on songwriting, recording and production to event management and marketing. A small group of the Moroccan musicians then travelled to Northern Ireland for an intercontinental recording collaboration with Derry-based musicians.
The Nerve Centre’s residency is funded by the National Lottery via the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
