Young Musicians Wanted for Hofesh Shechter's Political Mother

Hofesh Shechter Company are seeking talented young musicians from Derry~Londonderry to join the Company’s band in 2013 for a performance of Shechter’s ‘audio, visual marvel’ Political Mother: Derry~Londonderry UnCut. HSC are looking for percussion and strings players encompassing snare, bass and Japanese drums, violins, viola, cellos and double bass, and electric guitar and electric bass, to form a 30-strong band for this rock-concert style gig.

In strings players, HSC seek musicians comfortable with score reading, who are interested in a rather different and unique experience of play and open to experimenting with their musical quality and sound alongside the HSC musicians. Classic and folk experience is welcome.

In percussion players, HSC seek musicians with feel, whose playing is enriched by a curiosity about the musicality behind drumming. Technical skills are simply a tool for the musicians, as they work with many different qualities of play, engaging as a band to produce the percussive grooves of Shechter’s cinematic score.

In guitar players, HSC seek skilful and talented musicians who will form the engine for the bands’ powerful grooves and gritty heavy metal riffs.
