Nerve Centre's Creative Learning Centre has compiled animations, created by six Primary Schools based in Derry, Coleraine, Portrush, Strabane and Enniskillen, in an one-off showcase video.

Over the course of a school year, digital artists and trainers from the Nerve Centre took teachers and the children through the entire process, from planning the story, creating characters and convincing backdrops, setting up the camera, managing the shoot to editing the film together.

The video also showcases some of the techniques staff and pupils learnt over the year, including stop-motion animation, digital production using film, sound and QR codes, as well as editing of the final piece.

The schools explored STEAM learning and digital fabrication, using 3D printers, laser cutters and vinyl cutters. Topics and themes covered included; aviation, vikings, the Second World War, Titanic and Egyptians.

The teachers have now started training their colleagues and are working alongside CLC staff to plan the embedding of skills in school next year and beyond.

The schools involved included; Ballysally Primary School, Coleraine, Portrush Primary School, St Mary's Primary School, Strabane, Gaelscoil Uí Dhochartaigh, Strabane, Oakgrove Integrated Primary School, Derry and Jones Memorial Primary School, Enniskillen.
