Submissions For the 2015 Foyle Film Festival Light In Motion Awards Now Open

The Foyle Film Festival will begin the submissions process for its 2015 Light In Motion (LIM) Awards on Monday 27 April.

The Foyle Film Festival, which will run from November 18 – 22, is now in its 28th year and is one of only a handful of international festivals with Oscar®, BAFTA and BIFA affiliation.

Filmmakers can submit work to the Short Film, Short Animation and Feature Documentary categories. Recipients of the LIM Award for Best Film qualify for consideration in the Short Films Category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

The Festival, a flagship project of the Nerve Centre, and supported by Northern Ireland Screen and Derry City and Strabane District Council, delivers five days of exclusive film premieres, gala screenings and special cinematic events, as well as an educational outreach programme of events targeted at primary and post primary schools.

Previous winners and competitors at Foyle Film Festival’s LIM Awards who have proceeded to win an Oscar® include Terry George (The Shore), Martin McDonagh (Six Shooter), Adam Elliot (Harvie Krumpet) and Juanita Wilson (The Door). As well as this, last year’s LIM Award Winners Parvaneh, The Dam Keeper and competitor Boogaloo and Graham were all shortlisted in their respective category at the 2015 Oscars®.

Competition Manager Eavan King said: 'Last year the Foyle Film Festival had a really successful year in terms of winners and competitors going on to further success in both Oscar® and BAFTA competition.

'It’s evident that the Northern Ireland film industry is going from strength to strength with a wealth of home-grown creative talent. We’re delighted that the Foyle Film Festival is playing an ongoing role in this process'.

The Three Competition Categories under LIM are:

  • Best Short Film
  • Best Short Animation
  • Best Feature Documentary

All entries for the 2015 Festival must be submitted through affiliated website, Withoutabox: www.withoutabox.com/login/1733
