The Strypes to Play Nerve Centre

The Strypes to Play Nerve Centre

To celebrate the release of their new album 'Little Victories', The Strypes have announced that they will return to play the Nerve Centre.

The band recently knocked Ed Sheeran of the top of the Irish charts and also entered the top 20 of UK charts. The Derry date is one of only two Irish dates which will see the Cavan foursome play all four corners of the globe – including forthcoming dates in Argentina, Brazil and Japan.

Since June 2011, the band have been launching their explosive R&B assault on the clubs and festivals around the world. After signing to Rocket Music following a phone call from Sir Elton John, the band soon after signed a deal with Virgin/EMI.

The label released their debut album September 2012, which landed in the Top 5 in the UK and Ireland. They were invited to perform on Later with Jools Holland and were dubbed as the ‘hottest new band in the UK' by the NME.

‘Little Victories‘ is described as containing a broader musical range when compared to the young band’s 2013 debut, moving on from early rock and roll to strokes of psychedelia, new wave and sixties Britpop.

Commenting on Little Victories, guitarist Josh McClorey said: 'It’s just a progression. It’s like comparing what we were listening to when we were 12 and 13 to what we’re listening to now. It’s obviously going to be different.'

In addition to releasing their new album, 2015 saw the band tour with Foo Fighters, become the youngest band to ever play Slane Castle and feature in Julien Temple's acclaimed film The Strypes: Best Thing Since Cavan, a deeply human story that explores the band's evolution from toddlerhood, when they first began playing together, through the hard work and twists of fate that have catapulted them straight out of their small rural hometown to screaming crowds.

Support acts at the gig include The Mighty Stef. Tickets for The Strypes live at The Nerve Centre cost £15 + b/fee and are on sale now at The Nerve Centre box office and online at
