Nerve Centre Creative Learning Centre are pleased to announce a week of seminars and workshops designed to support schools using technology, including mobile technology to support teaching and learning.

ICT Coordinator Training: Monday, 22 August 2016 from 09:30 to 15:30 

iPad Setup and Management and Getting to Grips with iCloud Storage. Learn how to take iPads from the box to classroom ready. This course will look at a number of solutions to set-up and manage iPads in a school setting as well as focusing on restrictions, accessibility, battery life, app purchasing and distribution and iOS updates. You'll also learn about some of the main cloud storage services for iPad such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Edmodo, Showbie and Seesaw so you can make informed decisions about the best storage and sharing solutions for your school and pupils.

iPads to support SEN: Monday, 22 August 2016 from 09:30 to 15:30 

This workshop will explore ways in which the creative use of technology can be embedded to support teaching and learning with SEN/AEN pupils. It will look at how the range of built in accessibility options within the iPad itself can support a range of additional needs and how some key apps can really help to engage students and hep them to express themselves in all areas of school life.

iPads and the WAU: Tuesday, 23 August 2016 from 09:30 to 15:30 

This workshop will explore ways in which the creative use of technology can be embedded into schemes of work to support connected teaching and learning of WAU topics. From Foundation to KS2, discover new ways to engage your pupils by using iPads to help them learn about the world around them.

British Council - Digital Literacy: Tuesday, 23 August 2016 from 09:30 to 15:30 

This two session course will allow teachers and school leaders to understand the core concepts, theories and issues relating to digital literacy and reflect on how digital literacy is being implemented in their schools. Participants will also gain experience of using a variety of iPad apps to support their learning. Through a collaborative approach and enquiry based model, participants will be encouraged and supported to bring their learning to the classroom. A second twilight session (date TBC after Session 1) will allow participants to evaluate, share good practice and plan for future progression.

Learning through film: relationships, health and wellbeing - Anti-bullying: Friday, 26 August 2016 from 09:30 to 11:00  

Particularly suitable for teachers of PSHE, PSE, Health and Wellbeing, LLW and Citizenship, this session is designed to develop teachers’ confidence in tackling anti-bullying through film. Use film as a tool to examine appropriate behaviours through analysis of on screen action and enable students to positively express their thoughts, voice and learning through filmmaking. This session is for educators working with 7-14 year olds.

Learning through film: Staying Safe Online: Friday, 26 August 2016 from 11:30 to 13:00  

A session for teachers and educators of 9–16 year olds. The session will introduce some tools and techniques to enable you to feel confident to use film to start the conversation about this challenging topic and develop confidence in using active film watching and filmmaking as a teaching tool in this context. The activities support learners to discuss themes, issues and questions prompted by a film text stimulus and analyse and demonstrate appropriate behaviour and action.
