Open Call for Nerve Centre PRSF Musician-in-Residence

The Nerve Centre is seeking a talented and dynamic Musician-in-Residence for a creative collaboration with musicians, songwriters, bands and producers in Derry~Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

The residency is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Derry City Council through the City of Culture Legacy fund.

In this open call we are seeking experienced music creators who are interested in becoming our Musician-in-Residence.

The Nerve Centre would like to identify a Musician-in-Residence from an urban/pop/rock background with the ability to compose, produce, arrange, write lyrics and be open to collaborative development of young talent and more experienced artists.

The successful musician will come from a background in songwriting and music production who is wants to create new music during their residency and who is also willing collaborate with local musicians, songwriters, bands and producers to assist them in creating new music.

Pearse Moore, chief executive, said: ‘The Nerve Centre’s primary aim is to encourage artistic creation and develop the burgeoning music community in Derry~Londonderry. We want to make great work and to partner with an experienced musician who will provide participation and creative opportunities for local musicians.

We are seeking a musician who will have a high degree of success in their own professional career who is open to collaborative development of young talent and local emerging artists.'

Nerve Centre aims to schedule the residency to start in the spring of 2015.

City of Culture 2013

During City of Culture 2013, Neil Cowley was the Nerve Centre’s inaugural PRSF Musician-in-Residence and became a musical ambassador for the city, promoting the region, its music and cultural heritage.

He engaged in a diverse range of musical workshops with performers of all abilities from youth and school groups to emerging professional musicians, as well as composing and performing a suite of new music. Click here to read/watch more on his tenure.
