Nerve Centre’s Young Musicians Prepare For Stendhal

Nerve Centre’s Young Musicians Prepare For Stendhal

Over 80 young people from Nerve Centre’s music programmes will be rocking the 'Keady Corner Stage' at the award-winning Stendhal Festival this weekend.

The musicians will put to use skills and musicianship developed through the Nerve Centre’s Set the Stage and Music Hothouse projects, as well as The PULSE Centre and SYNC North Eastern and Western Board's programmes.

Through 'Set the Stage' they have been shown the ropes of everything needed to put on a sellout show, from devising a line-up and booking the artists through to creating marketing materials and finally delivering the gig itself.

Filling the stage will be over 80 musicians, who will be showcasing their vocal and instrumental talents in front of crowds of 5,000 at ‘Ireland’s Best Small Festival’.

Through these programmes, the budding performers have been given the opportunity to become better musicians, form bands, jam with new friends, perform live and kick start a life in the music industry.

The Keady Corner stage will also play host to a number of up-and-coming Northern Irish bands.

Music programme manager at the Nerve Centre, Marty McGill said, ‘These projects give young people the chance to learn and develop skills, while helping to build confidence. They are a great way for kids to meet like-minded people, build on their talent and give them the boost to give it their all and go for it!

'If previous performances at Glasgowbury and Stendhal are anything to go by, this promises to be an unmissable event!’

Nerve Centre's Musician-in-Residence David Lyttle will also be gracing the Main Stage on Friday, August 7 at 7.30pm.

David will be performing alongside a number of people who he has collaborated with during his residency, including VerseChorusVerse, Leanne Doherty, Joseph Leighton, James Graham, Glenn Rosborough, Waldorf and Danny Miller.

The Music Hothouse #2 project returns on August 24 for five days of creative jam sessions, music tuition, tips from industry professionals and performance opportunities. Registration is open now, for more information contact Marty Coyle - m.coyle@nervecentre.org, or tel; 028 7126 0562
