Moving Image Arts Week 2017 - Free Training Courses for Teachers

MIA Revised AS Film Theory - Martin Melarkey

Monday 19th June 2016, 10.30am - 15.30pm 

This full day session will cover the key areas of study for the revised AS examination - Alfred Hitchcock and the Classical Hollywood Style and Formalism: Early European Cinema and American Expressionism. The Chief Examiner will detail the Learning Outcomes of the new AS specification and the support materials available, including the specimen examination and fact sheets. The session will explore approaches to teaching the subject content and preparing candidates for the online examination.

MIA Stop Motion Animation for GCSE

Wednesday 21st June, 10:00am - 15.30pm

This full day course will take you through the essentials of stop-motion theory and techniques and introduce you to a number of methods that can be used to create stop-motion animations. This course would be particularly useful for those offering the MIA GCSE specification and will guide you through the animation controlled assessment element of the course.

Sound Editing for GCSE

Thursday 22nd June, 10:00am - 15.30pm

This full day course will take you through the controlled assessment sound task for GCSE MIA and will give you the skills to help your students create a professional soundtrack for their films. Acquire skills in foley recording, multi-track mixing and using royalty free sound effects and music.
