Make Your First Move into the Creative Industries with the Nerve Centre

If manning the mixing desk, creating graphic designs, heading up behind-the-scenes TV productions and performing live is what you want to do, the Nerve Centre's full-time vocational courses are the place to start.

The award-winning creative media arts centre offers a range of full-time accredited NOCN Level 3 courses in Music Production, Music Performance & Technology, Creative Media, and Film & TV Techniques, starting in September.

The courses are tutored by industry professionals who bring their practical experience of studio engineering, live performance, recording, songwriting, festival management, creative design and television production into the classroom through lessons, tutorials and seminars.

Lead tutor on the music courses is local singer~songwriter Glenn Rosborough. Best known for his success with electro-rockers Kharma 45, who landed a major label deal with Warner Bros, Glenn is also a graduate of the Music Performance & Technology course. He now balances his work in the Nerve Centre with a successful solo career.

Explaining more about the music courses, Glenn said: ‘If you are interested in working creatively in the music industry, then these accredited courses are for you. Whether you want to be a producer, a sound engineer or a stage tech using the latest technologies, the Nerve Centre offers excellent facilities and hands-on training from the best in the industry.

'You will have access to a range of equipment, including full suites of Apple Macs loaded with current software such as Logic and a state-of-the-art recording studio. 'Personally speaking, the course gave me a solid foundation in the music industry and the experience and confidence to move forward with my career as a musician.'

The full-time courses are ‘NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Progression’ and are run in partnership with South West College. Successful completion of the course will allow students to advance to third level education.

Christine Galbraith, a recent graduate of the Creative Media course said: ‘The course was fantastic. I enjoyed all aspects of it, especially the Photoshop and filming classes. John Deery was an excellent tutor, he really enthused the class with his industry knowledge and experience in the creative industries.’
