Forget DIY, Do It Together at FabLab Nerve Centre

Keeping young people busy at the weekend can be a bit of a challenge, but help is at hand from the Nerve Centre's FabLab which is offering free activity sessions as part of its new parent and child Maker Club.

Starting this Saturday, February 15 young creatives, aged eight and up and their parents will have the opportunity to use the latest in digital fabrication technology, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, 3D routers, vinyl cutters and milling machines to create almost anything they can imagine - turning ideas into reality!

The session will be delivered by FabLab Nerve Centre’s team of professionals, between 10am - 2pm and has been designed to encourage the development of design and innovation skills and to inspire creativity in both parent and child.

Eamon Durey, project manager of FabLab said: ‘The Maker Club activities will give young people and parents hands-on experience with the high-tech kit available in the FabLab Nerve Centre. Over the next few sessions, participants will explore the different ways this exciting technology can be used to create almost anything! We look forward to welcoming families through the door for the first session on Saturday - soon they’ll be teaching us a thing or two!’

The workshops begin on Saturday February 15 and continue on alternate Saturdays between 10am and 2pm. Places are limited and advanced booking is required. To book, contact or telephone 028 7126 0562.

The FabLab is supported by the European Union’s PEACE III Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
