Culture Northern Ireland Hits All The Right Notes With New Competition

Want to experience the musical excitement of a string quartet up close and personal, from the comfort of your sofa or round your kitchen table? Now you can, thanks to Culture Northern Ireland.

The leading arts and cultural website, which is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, has launched an exciting new competition offering one lucky winner a ‘Front Room Session’ with the Lisaire String Quartet.

The winner, along with family and friends, will enjoy a special one-off performance from the much sought-after four-piece. As well as playing classical pieces, Lisaire String Quartet also have an extensive song list covering the likes of Snow Patrol, Sting, Elton John, and Adele.

The competition is now open via the new-look Culture Northern Ireland website, which offers web users the latest arts news, views and events in a mobile-friendly format.

The unique prize-package is part of Culture Northern Ireland’s mission to bring Northern Ireland arts and cultural scene to new audiences. Each month a different ‘Front Room Session’ will be on offer. Sessions lined up include an intimate gig from acoustic-based duo Sullivan & Gold, an iPad portrait by leading artist Bill Gatt, stand up from comedian Paul Currie, and a short story reading from author Bernie McGill.

Encouraging people to enter the competition and check out the new website, David Lewis, Director of Culture Northern Ireland, said: 'Since Culture Northern Ireland was launched, we’ve worked hard to make it the most innovative arts and cultural website in Northern Ireland, and our new mobile-friendly design will ensure people get the arts information when and where they need it.

'Front Room Sessions will bring some of Northern Ireland’s most talented musicians and artists into the homes and workplaces of our lucky winners, giving them an experience they’ll never forget.'

Ciaran Scullion, Head of Music, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, said: 'Front Room Sessions is a unique, fun and exciting initiative from Culture Northern Ireland. From string quartets to portrait painting in your living room and acoustic heroes in your kitchen, there’s something for everyone and I would encourage all to enter this engaging competition.'
