Culture NI On Board as the Official Digital Partner For the City of Culture 2013

Culture NI, Northern Ireland's leading arts and cultural website, has come on board as the official digital partner for the UK City of Culture 2013.

The Culture NI team, based in the Nerve Centre and core funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, are providing additional digital content and e-marketing support.

Shona McCarthy, chief executive of Culture Company 2013, said: 'With many years' experience of cultural content development and online arts marketing, the Culture NI team is ideally placed to support the City of Culture's digital strategy and outputs.’

Platforms involved in the partnership include the City of Culture website (www.cityofculture2013.com), social media such as Facebook and Twitter, the weekly City of Culture e-newsletter, and a LegenDerry mobile app.

Culture NI is also producing regular video content for the City of Culture YouTube channel and a monthly half hour programme for the new US-based network Today’s Ireland.

David Lewis, the Nerve Centre’s director of communications and digital content, said: ‘Since the start of the year the partnership with Culture NI has helped City of Culture reach more than 250,000 people a week through Facebook, more than a million page views on the website, and 80,000 plus YouTube views.

‘We have also built up an email list of 23,000 email addresses through a host of online campaigns and promotions. Taken together, this is a significant online audience regularly receiving key messages about Derry~Londonderry and the City of Culture programme.’

Noirin McKinney, director of arts development at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, said: ‘The Arts Council is delighted that Culture NI is raising awareness of the City of Culture, as well as helping to show how this ambitious arts and cultural programme is inspiring and changing lives in Derry~Londonderry.’
