Kicking things off is SYNC’s Create an EP project, July 7-9, where aspiring musicians, songwriters, producers and bands will have the opportunity to develop their skills. Working alongside our expert in-house team, as well as top industry professionals in Nerve Centre’s state-of-the-art recording studio, three days of intense musical collaboration will culminate in the creation of a unique original album.

On Friday 8 July, Nerve Centre will be at the heart of Music City 2016 with a jam-packed day of performances and more. SYNC Bitesize panel will be on hand to offer advice for budding musicians at noon, while at 2pm audiences will be entertained by students from the Camp Rock scheme.

Music City 2016 also plays host to the live launch of First Cuts Vol. 2, SYNC Records’ latest release featuring tracks from local musicians including The Docs, Rebecca Mulhern and more.

Rounding off the day, budding event organisers from the Set the Stage initiative have devised a ‘gig swap’ with Belfast-based project Volume Control, so expect some of the most promising young artists from the capital to be hitting the road to make their mark on the North West.

The Set the Stage project explores everything required to stage a sell-out show; from devising your own lineup and booking artists, to creating marketing materials and delivering a final event in Derry~Londonderry’s Millennium Forum. This six week project runs from July 9 to August 20, so whether you see yourself as the brains behind the next big festival, working in PR or just working the sound desk, Set the Stage is the place to start.
